Air Force Veterans Re-Unite in Udaipur

In a re-union of 45 retired Indian Air Force officials organised by Group Captain Gajendra Singh Shaktawat, a friendly cricket match was played at Field Club Udaipur. In the series of events organized under the re-union, veterans will play Golf on 7th April and on a cultural night will be held on 8th April.

In the series of events organized under the re-union, veterans will play Golf on 7th April and on a cultural night will be held on 8th April.

In the friendly match of 20 overs played at Field Club ground, around 40 retired officials of Indian Air Force participated. Earlier the group visited various tourist spots of city, including City Palace and Sajjan Garh. It is the 3rd annual meet of retired pilots, the other two were organised in Nagpur.

According Group Captain Gajendra Singh Shaktawat, most of the pilots are professional cricketers since long time and have played in Ranji Trophy and other equivalent cups, today all these officials have crossed 60 years of their age.

Group Captain Denu Desh Panday has played Ranji Match in 1957 with Royal House of Mewar, under captaincy of Arvind Singh Mewar and other renounced players of State team. In his cricketing career, he has led team of Indian Air Force for many years.

Most experienced veteran player among the group is Commander Gautam Nayyar, retired as Commander in Chief of Maintenance Department, Indian Air Force in 2009. Nayyar has played cricket for around 10 years in Air Force team, he holds a record of remaining Not Out opening batsmen playing in Ranji match against Punjab in 1977.
