May 28, 2025 - Legendary singer Kishore Kumar was married four times. His first marriage was with Ruma Devi, and they had a son named Amit Kumar. After that, Kishore married the famous actress Madhubala. Later, he married Yogita Bali, and his fourth marriage was with actress Leena Chandravarkar. 

Recently, Amit Kumar spoke about his father’s marriages and his bond with his stepmother Madhubala. The singer shared that he used to call her “Mummy” and used to sleep next to her when small.

Madhubala ‘Mummy’

In an interview with Vicky Lalwani, singer Amit Kumar was asked if he lived with his father and stepmother, Madhubala. He replied, “Yes, I used to live with them. I was comfortable and never complained about anything. I used to call her just ‘mummy’. She came over once or twice. I had a habit of kicking a lot while sleeping. Madhu ji used to sleep between me and Baba. I didn’t even realise I was kicking her.”

He added, “Once she told Baba, ‘Your son kicks a lot.’” 

Amit also shared that his father took very good care of Madhubala and even took her to London for treatment. He said they were a lovely couple.

His Father’s Marriages

Amit shared he had no issues with his father’s three marriages after his separation from Ruma Devi. He said, “I got love from both my parents. I loved both of them, and they cared for me. I used to visit Mumbai during holidays, and it felt like heaven. I always waited to meet him. Sometimes he also came to Kolkata.”

Under the Same Roof

Amit revealed that his mother and stepmom Chandravarkar lived in the same house for many years. He said, “Leena ji and my mother stayed together under one roof for 12 years. We all sat and ate meals together. They were very open-minded. I consider myself lucky. I love my parents very much and miss them. They taught me many good things.”
