Bhavik Ameta – Class 12th Science Topper

At first look, he seems to be a calm, quiet and sincere teenager like many others. His spectacles give an additional touch to his “Studious” look. But when I had a talk with him I was really impressed with his determination and dedication towards his goal. The calm and quiet boy was quite energetic; he had not only dreamt of the days ahead but is on his way to make the dream come true. His sparkling eyes and a consistent smile on face were undoubtedly the signs of his happiness.

As our conversation continued, I was amazed to know that not only board exams, it was BITSAT (BITS Aptitude Test) as well, where he excelled. With a score of 328 over 450, he is quite sure of making it to Birla Institute of Technology and Science (BITS, Pilani), one of the most reputed engineering institutes of the country. Also, he expects a score of around 280 in Joint Entrance Exam for IITs. I was spellbound, listening to all his talks. It’s the result of his endless efforts, blessings of the Almighty, parents and loved ones that he is ready to make a kick start for the bright future.

As we talked, my anxiety kept increasing, I kept asking him about his journey till now. Here are the excerpts of our conversation.

Who all are the people behind your success? Who has always been a source of inspiration for you?

I am always inspired and motivated by my father, Mr. Mahesh Chandra. My mentor, Mr. Ram Bhatia of Cambridge Classes has always been very supportive. He always helped me to keep up the pace. Also, credit for this success goes to my Principal, Mr. Rajan Scaria. One of my cousins,  Jayant Ameta secured 24th Rank in IIT JEE. This was another reason that I prepared for IIT JEE.

Did you prepare exclusively for this?

No, in fact I think it’s merely my luck that I scored so well in my board exams. I was quite sure about a score of 90+ but never thought of being a topper.  I was very much focused towards my preparation for IIT JEE and other competitive exams.

How many hours did you study?

I used to study for 8-10 hours daily. But, as I said earlier, it was basically for IIT JEE and other exams. I did not dedicate a separate time slot for board exams.

Your score in all exams is quite impressive. What are your plans now?

My main focus is to make it to an IIT or BITS, Pilani. I would like to complete my B.Tech. in Electrical or Electronics and Communication Engineering. Then, an MBA and finally I would like to setup my own business.

Though our conversation was very much centered to studies, I would like to tell you that Bhavik is a volleyball lover and a chess master mind. All these qualities show that he is undoubtedly an all rounder and we wish him all the best for life ahead.
