Bloomberg Billionaires Index: Adani Overtakes Mukesh Ambani to Become Asia’s Richest
Elon Musk remains at the top with a net worth of $656 billion; Musk’s wealth is more than double that of Larry Page, who stands second with $286 billion
April 18, 2026 - Owing to a massive surge in Adani Group shares this year, Indian businessman Gautam Adani has once again become the richest person in Asia and India. According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Adani’s total net worth has now reached $92.6 billion, while Mukesh Ambani has slipped to second place with a net worth of $90.8 billion.
Currently, Adani holds the 19th position among the world’s 500 richest people, while Mukesh Ambani is ranked 20th. However, according to Forbes’ real-time billionaire list, Ambani still has a significantly higher net worth than Adani.
In the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Elon Musk remains at the top with a net worth of $656 billion. Musk’s wealth is more than double that of Larry Page, who stands second with $286 billion.
Only six Indians are named in the top 100 list.
Adani’s wealth has increased by $16 billion so far in 2026, while Mukesh Ambani’s net worth has fallen by $8 billion this year, leading to a shift in rankings.
