Dawoodi Bohra Youth Community, in an act of solidarity took prompt action following the orders issued by the Chief Minister of Rajasthan's office towards preventing the pandemic of Coronavirus from affecting Udaipur.
Following a meeting early in the morning, the Secretary of Dawoodi Bohra Jamaat, which oversees the activites and affairs of the Bohra Youth community in Udaipur, issued an SMS to members of the community requesting them to refrain from holding public functions or gatherings in the community centers across Udaipur as well as in the Masjids in various localities of the city.
In an interaction with UdaipurTimes, Zakir Pansari, Secretary of Dawoodi Bohra Jamaat said that this action was due over a couple of days. He said that he will not issue instructions or orders but rather request and seek cooperation from members of the community to restrain from organising and participating in public functions / events within the community. Earlier last week, Dawoodi Bohra Jamaat cancelled a public feast, which is an annual event on the occasion of Ali Day (celebration of the Birth of Imam Ali (A.S)). Zakir said that he received calls of support from the members of the community on this action taken by him. This response was instrumental in helping him take a decision across the community once the CM office orders were made public today.
Members of the community are also joining hands in ensuring that no public events or mass gatherings are held for at least this month, to ensure support and prevention. Alambardar Society, a unit of the Dawoodi Bohra Jamaat is also holding a camp on Sunday 15 March to serve a herbal medicine that will supress infection from regular seasonal illnesses.
We at UdaipurTimes, call on all communities and societies across Udaipur and elsewhere to work at micro level and provide support to the administration in overcoming the spread of Coronavirus.
