Udaipur, May 10, 2026: Dakshit Kumawat, 18-yr old chess prodigy from Udaipur, has secured the title of Woman Candidate Master. This milestone is historic for Rajasthan’s Chess landscape. Her current standing at ELO FIDE rating of 2001 is the highest for a woman chess player in Rajasthan.

Reigned Woman Chess in Rajasthan and "Open" Victory

Dakshita has proven her mettle with exceptional consitency. She has maintained a relentless grip on the Rajasthan State Women Chess Championship since 2021. She has won the title for five consecutive years without losing a single match—a feat never before achieved in the state’s history.

​One of her exceptional achievements was in 2025, when she competed in the Rajasthan State Senior Open (Men's) FIDE Rated Championship held in Bikaner. Competing against 300 players, Dakshita emerged victorious, becoming the youngest player and only the second woman in history to win the state's most coveted "Open" title.

Future Aspirations

Dakshita has been a student of Vidya Bhawan Public School, Udaipur and has been coached by Ayush Jain. Apart from winning titles across Rajasthan, she has ​won multiple National medals across various age categories. She has also represented India on the global stage at the Asian Junior Chess Championship (2023) and ​World Junior Chess Championship (2024).

​With her sights now set on the Woman Grandmaster (WGM) title and a spot on the Indian Olympiad main team, Dakshita Kumawat has firmly established herself as the leading face of women’s chess in Rajasthan.

What is Woman Candidate Master

The Woman Candidate Master title was introduced with the Candidate Master title in 2002. This is the first official title awarded by FIDE and is secured by getting a FIDE rating of 2000 or more. This title is also gained by getting a medal in the U8, U10, U12, U14, U16 World Youth Championship or continental or regional youth championships of the women's section as well as by scoring more than 50% points in more than 7 games in the Olympiad.
