This is the first time that a Vice Chancellor from Rajasthan state has been given such a high position in the Union.

Dr. Ajit Kumar Karnataka, Vice-Chancellor of Maharana Pratap University of Agriculture and Technology, Udaipur has been elected General Secretary of IAUA. He was honored by the Indian Association of Agricultural Universities (IAUA) at the 47th Vice-Chancellors' Conference, which began on March 17, 2024, at Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University, Ludhiana.

Dr. Karnataka thanked all the members of the Association for reposing confidence in him to assume the post of General Secretary. He assured his full commitment in achieving the objectives of the Association as a part of nationwide efforts for a developed India. Till now Dr. Karnataka was a member of the executive committee of the association. In recognition of his contribution in uplifting the teaching, research and extension activities of agricultural universities for rural development, the members of the association have unanimously elected him as the General Secretary.

This is the first time that a Vice Chancellor from Rajasthan state has been given such a high position in the Union. Recently Dr Karnataka was honored with Life Time Achievement Award and Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan Teacher Award by various professional societies. Dr. Karnataka was nominated by the Honorable Governor to the High Powered Committee for the implementation of the National Education Policy 2020 in the State of Rajasthan. He is also a recipient of the Best Vice Chancellor Award of Uttarakhand State. The university family expressed happiness over his election as the General Secretary of IAUA and called it a proud moment for the university.
