‘Jaipur Literature Festival’, South Asia’s largest literary festival has invited Udaipur based literature author Dr. Mahendra Bhanawat to present his piece of work in this year’s event which starts from 20^th of January at Diggi Palace, Jaipur.

As this year’s theme for the Jaipur Literature Festival is based on Bhakti Poetry, Biography Writing and Arab Spring, Dr. Mahendra Bhanawat will speak on various aspects of the lives of two well-known mystical poetesses of India, Meera Bai and Akka Mahadevi.

His first speech will be on Meera Bai, a Hindu spiritual singer, poetess and devotee of Lord Krishna and the second one will be on the life of Akka Mahadevi who was a believer of Lord Shiva and used to write spiritual poems in Kannada. Both of these poetesses left their luxurious life and lead a poet-saint life worshiping their deities.

Dr. Mahendra Bhanawat has also published a book named Nirbhay Meera on the life Meera Bai after going all across India at places like Gujarat, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu to augment his knowledge on the writings and life of Meera Bai.

Some of the other authors and speakers who are expected to participate in the festival are Salman Rushdie, Chetan Bhagat, Oprah Winfrey, Michael Ondaatje, Yatindra Mishra, Tarun Tejpal, Kiran Nagarkar, Aruna Roy, etc.

Every year, many National and International authors and leading opinion makers take part in various activities like discussions, debates, presentations, children’s workshops and interactive activities at the ‘Jaipur Literature Festival’.
