At the recently concluded awards ceremony at the B.I.D International Quality Convention – Geneva 2012, Udaipurs prestigious Friends Engineering Works was honored with the Century International Quality ERA Award in the Gold category. The company was recognized for its commitment to Quality, Leadership, Technology and Innovation.

UdaipurTimes.com had the opportunity of interacting with Trilok Singh, Managing Director of Friends Engineering Works Pvt. Ltd. at his office in the Madri Industrial area, today afternoon.

In his discussions with UT, Trilok Singh mentioned that the organization has been committed to quality in terms of delivery, customer satisfaction, employee satisfaction, premises maintenance and systems, from the very beginning. The concern over quality has not happened over the years, but has been an intrinsic part of the company’s growth philosophy.

Trilok Singh who holds a Post Graduate degree in Management as well as M.A. in English, has been with the institution right from its inception in 1960.

He said that the firm, which is now a leading company in manufacture of state of the art machinery used in marble quarrying, processing and finishing, started its operations with a modest work shop that was founded, run and managed by his father, Fauja Singh.

FRIENDS, the acronym which stands for Finesse, Rational, Impeccable, Efficacious, Novel, Devoted and Sturdy has shown commitment towards quality and a focus towards Research and Development, something that has allowed the firm to maintain and ensure high performance standards of its products. Mukhtiyar Singh is also the Managing Director of the firm and the threesome make up the senior most management team at FRIENDS.

Trilok Singh, in his interaction, also disclosed that he is an ardent photography geek and has a collection of the best cameras globally. This was evident by the ambience of his private office, which contained plenty of books and magazines on photography, cameras, tripod stands, etc.

A feeling of immense positive energy emanates when one enters the premises of the FRIENDS workshop, which is further augmented by the environment and ambience of the private office of Trilok Singh, the administrative cabins and control centers.

Talking about the award, Trilok Singh mentioned that they were invited by B.I.D as selected enterprise and the award criteria is based on feedback received by manufacturing equipment users worldwide. There was no nomination submission or poll, but it was entirely internal assessment by the awarding body.

According to Jose E. Prieto, the CEO of B.I.D (Business Initiative Directions), “the awarded companies are symbols of commitment to leadership, technology and innovation, making them models for others in their sectors”. B.I.D praised FRIENDS for representing success for India in the business world.
