Gaurvi Singhvi, Udaipur’s 14 year old swimming prodigy, who has recently created new records with her 16km swim on the shores of Mumbai, is all set to take the plunge once again, this time for another record breaking attempt. She is set to time her dive on 26th March, when she will attempt to clear a one stretch 36 km swim from the Worli Sea Link to the Gateway of India. A 2.5 km stretch towards the end of her swim will be the one she ventured during her record attempt at 16km on 21st March. Once her attempt is done with, she will be the only female swimmer in India to have completed this route and the first in Rajasthan to have attempted this distance.
This route is non conventional route as it is a high seas route and not Dharamtaal, the usual creek route.
The current record for this distance is also held by Udaipur’s Bhakti Sharma. Mahesh Paliwal, Guarvi’s coach said that she will attempt a 42 km stretch next year and once she is past 16yrs, she will attempt the English Channel.
