China boasts of the world’s longest high speed rail network. In a bid to prove that Chinese made bullet trains exemplify high quality standards, the Chinese yesterday tested crossing of two high speed bullet trains – the test took place at a high speed railway line in Zhengzhou, Henan district in China.
Two bullet trains, plying at high speeds of 260 miles per hour each, crossed each other safely, at a relative speed of 840km/h (520mph), the highest in the world as per any standard. Japan’s Maglev train set the record earlier travelling at 373 mph in 2014. Crossing speed record before this ambitious test was at 192 mph.
China has 11,800 miles of railway track, expected to reach 18,000 by 2020. This test, as per state run CCTV-News, was to emphasise the advancement of China’s design and manufacturing ability to the world.
The link below is of the filming of the crossing, which was taken from inside of one of the trains. In a matter of seconds the two trains pass.
