Google rewards Udaipur boy for finding bug

Udaipurite Abhijeet Jain was recently rewarded by Google for finding a bug in their application Google Plus. Google team acknowledged the report sent by Abhijeet and validated his findings.

Abhijeet said that in the holidays post his 12th grade examination he was going through web application handbook and experimenting with various applications. While doing such an experiment on Google Plus he found that there was a bug that allowed hackers to delete any post from any user’s profile. He then reported his findings to Google on the same.

Google team investigated the issue and found it to be a bug of high severity level. The Google security team immediately carried out the repair work on the same and awarded a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh 9 thousand to Abhijeet. Google also uploaded Abhijeet’s photograph on its Hall of Fame.

It may be noted that Google runs a Bug-bounty programme as part of which it rewards programmers who identify bugs in google applications and rewards them with upto $15000 for the identification and reporting. Google also includes them in their Hall of Fame.

Abhijeet is currently pursuing his engineering from Jaipur.
