Gulabchand Kataria, MLA, BJP was summoned today by CBI for questioning regarding the Tulsi Prajapati and Sohrabuddin Sheikh cases.

Gulabchand Kataria was out today afternoon around 12.30 to attend a social programe at Sarada Village, when officials from CBI came and took him to Gandhinagar, Gujarat for questioning.

He was questioned about both the cases and was freed in the evening, after which he left for Udaipur.  “He was summoned and questioned about the cases in Gandhinagar, Gujarat” said a CBI official.

When asked by media about what happened in the questioning, he replied “I was asked questions related to the Sohrabuddin case and I replied to what I was asked”.

For the record, Gulabchand Kataria was the State Home Minister during the period when both the cases of Tulsi Prajapati and Sohrabuddin occurred.

It was alleged that Sohrabuddin, a known gangster, was killed in a fake encounter in November 2005.  Later, his wife Kausarbi was also killed.  The case, initiated by Gujarat CID was then transferred to CBI on the orders of the Supreme Court.

The BJP was in a state of shock after receiving the updates of this summon.
