Hindustan Zinc received The CSR Journal Excellence Award 2018 in the category ‘Agriculture and Rural Development’ for the project SAMADHAN and became the first runners up in the Category ‘Women Empowerment’ for the project Sakhi at Vigyan Bhavan, Delhi on 22nd July 2019

Hindustan Zinc received The CSR Journal Excellence Award 2018 in the category ‘Agriculture and Rural Development’ for the project SAMADHAN and became the first runners up in the Category ‘Women Empowerment’ for the project Sakhi at Vigyan Bhavan, Delhi on 22nd July 2019.

The Award was presented by G. Kishan Reddy – Hon’ble Union Minister of State for Home Affairs. The function was also graced by other esteemed dignitaries – Narendra Singh Tomar – Minister of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj, Government of India and Harsimrat Kaur Badal – Cabinet Minister Food Processing, Government of India.

The award was received by  Shiv Bhagwan – Head CSR, Zinc Smelter Debari along with Akhil Nassim N.A – Associate Manager for the ‘Agriculture and Rural Development’ category and Vishal Agarwal, Head CSR, Chanderiya Zinc Lead Smelter along with Nairuti Sanghavi – Executive, CSR for the ‘Women Empowerment’ category on behalf of Hindustan Zinc .

Hindustan Zinc in collaboration with BISLD initiated project Samadhhan  (an Integrated  Agriculture development and Livestock Development project) which is benefitting  the lives of 30000 families in 184 operational villages across 5 district of Rajasthan.  Through a defined set activities that majorly include integrated farming and livestock interventions, project Samadhaan has helped establish more than 800 fruit orchards with various variety of fruit crops.

Through Sakhi, a flagship project for women empowerment, the company has connected 23954 rural women belonging to 166 villages across all the locations by formation of 1992 Self Help Groups with savings up to INR 6.22 crore. Besides, the company has reached to 10,555 women through various social and Government Schemes. As a result, rural women are now empowered to start their own micro finance enterprise and move ahead to form their institution into SHG village organization and federation.
