July 3, 2025 - India's aggressive wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant moved up one place to reach the sixth position in the latest ICC Test batting rankings on Wednesday, July 2. Pant recently became only the second wicketkeeper to score a century in both innings of the same Test against England. He now has a career-best 801 rating points.
He is just 88 points behind England's Joe Root, who holds the top spot. Pant had earlier reached his career-best fifth rank in July 2022. Meanwhile, opener Yashasvi Jaiswal remains at the fourth position and is the highest-ranked Indian batsman on the list.
Gill at Spot No. 21
Captain Shubman Gill has slipped one place and is now ranked 21st in the ICC Test batting rankings. Joe Root, who scored 28 and an unbeaten 53 in the Headingley Test against India, holds the top spot. He is 15 points ahead of his teammate Harry Brook, who is in second place. England opener Ben Duckett, who played a match-winning knock of 149 runs in the second innings of the first Test against India, has reached a career-best eighth position.
Bumrah Still No. 1 in Bowling
In the bowling rankings, India’s pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah remains at the top with 907 rating points. He impressed with a five-wicket haul in the first innings of the first Test against England. South Africa's Kagiso Rabada is at second place, followed by Australia captain Pat Cummins at third.
Hazlewood Moves Up, Jadeja Tops All-Rounder List
Australia’s Josh Hazlewood has moved up one spot to reach the fourth position, overtaking Pakistan spinner Noman Ali. Meanwhile, India’s Ravindra Jadeja continues to hold the top position in the Test all-rounders' rankings.
