It was almost impossible to celebrate Nirjala Gyaras, the kite flying day of Udaipur without Abdul Malik, the international kite flyer of Udaipur who passed away in the year 2011. Today, Malik’s younger daughter Sara has flown kites at Fateh Sagar, the scene recalled Malik’s incredible skills and passion for Kite Flying.
Abdul Malik’s family including his parents, wife, children and brothers gathered at Rani Road and flown kites of different types stating social messages, similarly what Malik used to do for years.
Under the banner of Uday Kite Club, which was founded by Malik, a trail of nearly 200 kites sailed high, whereas a number of other iconic kites of Abdul Malik were also skied, which included 20 feet Shark fish and 50 feet octopus, while the little Sara Malik flew an embossed kite.
Late Abdul Malik represented Udaipur in number of International Kite Competitions across globe and also won titles for the City, State and Country at large; he passed away on 11
th Dec 2011 at an early age of 38 due to kidney failure.
