Udaipur, November 20, 2024 - On November 25, 2024, a grand and traditional ceremony will be held at the sacred Chittorgarh Fort. Maharaj Kumar Vishvaraj Singh of Mewar will undergo the Paghdi Dastoor (turban ceremony) and be crowned as the Eklingh Diwan.
The ceremony will start at 10:00 AM and holds great importance for the Kshatriya community of Mewar. This includes nobles, Thikanedars, and Rajput Sardars.
Balu Singh Kanawat, President of the Mewar Kshatriya Mahasabha, shared that this ceremony honours the legacy of the late Maharana Mahendra Singh of Mewar. He symbolized faith, sacrifice, and dedication, and the ceremony is a tribute to these values.
The occasion is also a way to remember Mewar’s great leaders like Bappa Rawal, Rana Hammir Singh, Maharana Sanga, Maharana Kumbha, Maharana Pratap, and Maharana Raj Singh. The Rajput community and 36 clans aim to honour these leaders by crowning Maharaj Kumar Vishvaraj Singh as the next head of the Mewar royal family and Eklingh Diwan Maharana.
Chittorgarh, known for its rich history of sacrifice, loyalty, and honour, is the perfect setting for this event. The fort is a symbol of freedom and has witnessed many sacrifices in the name of honour.
The Mewar royal family, of Suryavanshi Kshatriya lineage, is believed to descend from Lord Ram. The family has always seen its head as the "Eklingh Diwan," the servant of Lord Shiva and protector of Mewar’s heritage.
This grand ceremony will showcase Indian culture, tradition, and valour. It will inspire people across India and stand as a symbol of Mewar’s glorious history for future generations.
Currently, Vishvaraj Singh Mewar is a BJP MLA from Nathdwara, and his wife Mahima Kumari Mewar is a BJP MP from Rajsamand.
