Udaipur, Dec 15, 2025 - Mansvi Agrawal of Udaipur has created history by becoming the first woman from Rajasthan to successfully summit Vinson Massif, the highest mountain peak on the Antarctic continent. As per sources, Mansvi achieved this historic milestone on December 12, 2025, by reaching the summit and unfurling the Indian tricolour on this extremely challenging peak. Notably, no male mountaineer from Rajasthan has been able to reach this summit till date.

Located at a height of nearly 5,000 metres (around 16,500 feet) above sea level, Vinson Massif lies at the earth’s southernmost extreme. The peak is completely covered in ice, with no human habitation for thousands of kilometres around. The landscape is dominated entirely by snow, and temperatures often plunge to minus 60 degrees Celsius. Owing to these extreme conditions, a successful ascent of Vinson Massif is considered one of the most challenging expeditions in the field of mountaineering. Experts say that every year, only about 50 climbers worldwide manage to reach the summit. So far, fewer than 10 Indian mountaineers have successfully climbed Vinson Massif, and Mansvi’s name has now been added to this elite list in golden letters.

Mansvi’s achievement is the outcome of years of intense training and strict discipline. She has successfully completed basic and advanced mountaineering courses from the Mountaineering Institute, Dirang (Arunachal Pradesh) and the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Darjeeling (West Bengal). These training programmes involve staying and practicing for nearly a month on icy peaks rising up to 6,500 metres. Notably, both these prestigious institutions are run by the Indian Army.

In addition, she has received advanced training from the Swami Vivekananda Rock Climbing Institute, operated by the Gujarat government, and is also a certified instructor in the field.

Earlier this year, Mansvi successfully scaled Mount Elbrus, the highest peak in Europe, and Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa. Her goal is to complete the “Seven Summits” challenge by reaching the highest peak on all seven continents in the coming year.

Alongside mountaineering, Mansvi is a former national-level shooter in 10-metre rifle shooting and has reached up to four rounds of selection trials for the Indian team.

Academically, she has completed a five-year law degree from Gujarat National Law University and earned a postgraduate degree. She is currently pursuing PhD research in Environmental Law. Recently, she cleared the Assistant Professor Eligibility Test conducted by the University Grants Commission (UGC) with an impressive 99.2 percentile. At present, she is also working as an Assistant Professor at Singhania Law College.

Her father, TR Agrawal, is a senior officer of the Rajasthan Finance Service and recently retired from the post of Additional Director. Her mother, Saroj Gupta, is a senior lecturer in the History Department at Meera Girls College.
