With the strike on a traditional drum, the annual fest of Shipgram was inaugurated by Margaret Alva, Governor of the State.

The 10-day event organized by the West Zone Cultural Center (WZCC) is one of the most notable places for traditional craftsmen and artists of India. The visitors can enjoy both shopping and cultural events at Shilpgram for next 10 days.

The inauguration ceremony was done by Margaret Alva today late afternoon in presence of other officials of Shilpgram including Shailendra Dashora, director of WZCC.

Hundreds of traditional artists, craftsmen, musicians, dancers and local traders will be present at the Shilpgram Utsav which will end on 30^th Dec.

The theme of this year’s Shilpgram Utsav is based on tribal communities of India where artists from several states will showcase their skills.

In her visit to Shilpgram, Margaret Alva talked to the artists, visited stalls, exhibition center and other facilities. Alva admired the management and shared her views on the legacy of Shilpgram which has given platform to hundreds of traditional artists.
