Mohammad Siraj Returns Home to a Rousing Reception from Fans

Aug 7, 2025 - India's fast bowler Mohammad Siraj received a hero's welcome on his arrival in his hometown, Hyderabad, on Wednesday August 6. He returned after playing an important role in drawing the recently concluded Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy series 2-2 against England. Siraj took the highest number of wickets in the five-match series — 23 in total.

He played a key role in India’s win in the final Test at The Oval. He was also named the Player of the Match. Siraj played all five Tests and bowled 185.3 overs.

The 31-year-old fast bowler from Hyderabad landed at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in the morning. He was accompanied by India’s fielding coach T Dilip and was welcomed warmly by fans.

Siraj was surrounded by fans asking for selfies and autographs, but he quickly got into a car and left to catch a flight to Hyderabad where he was given a rousing welcome by his fans.

Meanwhile, an official from the Hyderabad Cricket Association said, “We have not spoken to him yet, but we will definitely plan something to honour him, as he may stay in the city for a few days. It is a matter of pride for all of us that he performed so well for the country in the series against England.”
