June 10, 2025 - Former Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni was inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame on June 10 for the year 2025. Along with him, Australia’s legendary batsman Matthew Hayden and South Africa’s Hashim Amla were also honoured.
Dhoni has become the 11th Indian cricketer to be included in the ICC Hall of Fame. Under his captaincy, India won the 2007 T20 World Cup, the 2011 ODI World Cup and the 2013 Champions Trophy.
The ICC praised Dhoni, saying he is known for his calm nature under pressure, smart thinking and strong performance in limited-overs cricket. They said Dhoni’s legacy as one of the greatest finishers, leaders and wicketkeepers has earned him a well-deserved place in the ICC Hall of Fame.
Reacting to the honour, Dhoni said it is a big moment for him to be included in the ICC Hall of Fame, which recognises the contribution of cricketers from different generations around the world. He added that it is an amazing feeling to have his name listed among such great players and that this is something he will always remember and cherish.
Jay Shah, ICC Chairman, said, “Through the ICC Hall of Fame, we honour the best players the game has ever seen — those whose amazing careers have helped shape the history of cricket and inspired many generations.”
He added, “This year, we are proud to welcome seven truly special individuals into this respected group. On behalf of the ICC, I warmly congratulate each of them and hope they feel proud of this honour. It is a moment they will always remember in their cricket journey.”
