2 female NCC students are in Udaipur to spread the message of woman empowerment. These cadets are from Bihar and Jharkhand and have come cycling all the way.

Savitri Murmu(21) from Ranchi and Harsha Kumari(17) from Patna are on a countrywide tour to spread the message “Save the girl child”. They are spreading messages by explaining the importance of daughters to all.

With an aim to travel 22 thousand kilometres, the two NCC cadets started their journey on cycle on 13th October. They covered a distance of 7 thousand kilometres in the last three months and reached Udaipur on Thursday 18th January. They were welcomed by cadets of 5 Raj Battalion.

Both Savitri and Harsha travel upto 125 kilometres a day. The most amazing part is that they are travelling alone. There is no one else with them in this journey. They have boldly and energetically declared that they will not stop till they complete their target of 22 thousand kilometres.

These bold cadets revealed that they have to face a lot of difficulties on the way. They have crossed forests on Highway, they even come across boards cautioning wild life nearby and sometimes no water is available for 30 to 40 kilometres. But these brave girls are giving a lesson to everyone that females are equally strong. The challenges faced during their journey are making them even more confident of the fact that daughters are no less.

They also said that they have faced eve-teasing as well. To this they added that they asked some boys to behave but when the situation was repeated they even bashed up these eve-teasers. Both these NCC cadets are trained in karate and wrestling. As per NCC Captain Aditi, both these girls are full of confidence. They have come all the way without any support or even medical team. Their courage is an example for others.

Harsha and Savitri report to the respective police stations of the cities upon arrival. They have even got support of police and administration. The sad part revealed was that when they were about to reach Rajsamand on Wednesday, they asked for Rajsamand SP’s support but he bluntly refused.

These two brave young ladies have already covered Bihar, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi and now they are in Rajasthan. They have now headed for Ahmedabad.
