Well known Hindi Poet and a socialist, Prof. Nand Chaturvedi passed away following a sudden heart attack yesterday, December 25, at his home in Ahinsapuri, Udaipur.

Well known Hindi Poet and a socialist, Prof. Nand Chaturvedi passed away following a sudden heart attack yesterday, December 25, at his home in Ahinsapuri, Udaipur.

The last rituals were performed today in the afternoon at Mokshdham, Ahinsapuri.

The ceremony was attended by many politicians, administrative officials and well-known individuals from the education field including Gulabchand Kataria, Dalpat Surana, Dr. Rajendra Mohan Bhatnagar, Dr. Mahendra Bhanawat, Kamar Mewari, Dr. KK Sharma, Dr. Madhav Hada, Dr. Dev Kothari, Dr. Lakshminarayan Nandwana, Prof. Sadashiv Kshotriya, Dr. Hemendra Chandaliya, Prof. Veddaan Sudheer, Dr. Jayprakash Jyotipunj, Dr. Devendra Indresh, Kishan Dadheech, Vishnu Sharma Hiteshi, Aabid Adeeb, Prof. Pramod Bhatt, AL Damami and others.

Prof. Chaturvedi was born in a Brahmin Family in April 1923 and took his Masters Degree in Hindi from Rajasthan University.  He started his career as a Professor at Vidya Bhawan Rural Institute and later served as editor of Quaterly Journal – Bindu from 1966-72.

His works in poetry were also famous including ‘Yeh Samay Mamuli Nahin’, ‘Shabd Sansaar ki Yayavari’, ‘Imaandaar Duniya ke Liye’, ‘Wo Soye to Nahin honge’, ‘Utsav ka Nirmam Samay’ among others.

Prof. Chaturvedi was also the recipient of many awards including Bihari Puraskar, Prasaran Sanman, Equality Writer Award, Sahitya Vachaspati, Mira Puraskar and Lok Mangal Puraskar.
