A panther was killed last night after being hit by an unknown vehicle at Kevde Ki Naal, approximately 12km from Udaipur. Its body was brought to Udaipur’s veterinary hospital where an autopsy was conducted. The animal was later cremated.

According to sources, a man spotted the injured animal at 11:30 pm on the road and informed the forest department. Its head had been badly damaged due to the accident and it eventually succumbed to its injuries before the forest officials could arrive at the scene.

Vinod Kumar Rai, Range Forest Officer informed UT that the accident might have occurred as the animal was crossing the road. “It was a male panther and they usually wander for food at night,” said the officer.
