21-year-old Reshal Jain topped the examination of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) from Udaipur in the result declared on January 18.

She had also secured All India 41st Rank in her Professional Competency Course (PCC) in 2010 and this time scored 485 marks out of 800 in finals. Reshal has cleared all the 3 stages of CA viz. Common Proficiency Test (CPT), Professional Competency Course (PCC) and Finals in the first attempt.

When asked about the secret behind her success, Reshal says, “It is all because of lots of hard work that I have put in to be a CA. Since my concepts were clear and I went through each and everything over and over again I could do well in exams.”

She did her preparation for CPT and PCC from local institute and after clearing PCC in 2010 she moved to Mumbai for her internship at Chaturvedi and Shah Chartered Accounts as an Audit Assistant. When she was in Mumbai she took her coaching for finals at J.K Shah Institute.

Remembering her days of preparations she said, “I have given almost 15-16 hours of sitting each day for 6 months, it was tough but worthwhile. It was my mother’s support that helped me most in those days of preparation. I also used to bug my friends at mid nights telling them how tensed I was regarding these exams.”

“I wanted to clear these exams so badly that I always had a fear in mind while studying. What if I leave this particular topic and it makes its way to the question paper?” added Reshal.

While talking about people who are not able to clear CA in many attempts she said, “I appreciate their willpower and effort but they must re-evaluate their own performance and see where they are lacking, that is the best way to overcome your mistakes.”

Reshal choose CA as her soul profession because of her father, “My father told me once that he wanted to be a CA and he was pursuing it too. But then he got a job in bank and at that time working in bank was considered a big thing, so he left his preparation for CA and joined the banking job.”

Reshal’s father Surendra Jain works with SBBJ Udaipur and her mother, Bharti Jain does intra- day trading from home. Reshal aims to lead her career towards the financial sector, mainly in Investment Banking and Portfolio Management.
