The Chairman Emeritus of Tata Sons, Ratan Tata passed away on October 9 2024 at the Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai. He was 86.
Tata was admitted to hospital after complaints of low blood pressure on October 7. This led to a flurry of messages on social media, which the Titan himself thwarted through a tweet the same day, saying he was fine and in hospital for age related check up.

However, after reports of his deteriorating condition began trickling in on social sites and news sites, people began praying for his recovery. Industrialist Harsh Goenka, Chairman of RPG Enterprises, announced the devastating news of Ratan Tata's demise through a tweet late last night, on October 9. His message, The clock has stopped ticking. The Titan passes away..., brought an end to all speculations and drowned the country in grief. An entire generation had grown up reading of Ratan Tata and stands witness to his business acumen and exploits, leadership and philanthropy.
A media statement was issued by the office of N Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, as an obituary to the great leader. Calling him a truly uncommon leader, it said that his contributions were immeasurable and shaped the Tata Group as well as the fabric of the Nation.
