Sardar Singh Rao, Researcher at Department of Physics, MLSU Udaipur has finished his research work entitled “A Study of Variations in Total Electron Content over Low Latitudes during High and Moderate Solar Activity” under Supervision of Prof. Rajesh Pandey. Rao is awarded with Ph.D. degree by MLSU on 10th Sept.
Sardar Singh informed that his research work is concerned with variation of low latitude ionospheric total electron content (TEC) during high and moderate solar activity.
TEC has been obtained from the measurements using ground based GPS receivers installed at Department of Physics, MLSU, Udaipur and elsewhere.
“First part of my research work is concerned with quiet time TEC variation over low latitudes that emphasize importance of solar flux and strength of the equatorial electrojet on the appearance of the winter anomaly,” said Rao.
During his research, Sardar Singh attended meeting at Heliophysics Summer School, Boulder, USA, International School on Atmosphere-Ionosphere Radar- 2013, Chung-Li, Taiwan, 39th Committee on Space Science Research (COSPAR) Scientific Assembly-2012, Mysore, National Space Science Symposium-2014, Dibrugarh, Assam and several conferences in MLSU Udaipur.
