An exhibition, showcasing the work of self employed women was organized at Nagar Parishad under Swarn Jayanti Swarozgar Yojna.

The basic objective of Swarn Jyanti Swarozgar Yojna is to teach men and women of urban BPL families the ways of self employment. A program was organized by Municipal Council Udaipur in which 28 NGO’s supported and participated and around 1150 people got trained.

The training period was of 3 months in which men and women learned various skills of self employment including meenakari, stone carving, making bags and soft toys, Mehndi designing, stitching suits, making handmade bags, Paper Mache collage and many more.

Rajni Dangi (Chairperson, MCU) informed that Mayors, Chairpersons and Councilors from different parts of Rajasthan, Gujarat and Maharashtra attended this exhibition including Mayor of Kota Dr. Rachan Jain, Chairperson of Nathdwara, Geeta Sharma and Mayor of Morbi (Gujarat) Hansa ben Thakur.

She informed that we had received Rs 1.21 Crores for this project and we have already spent Rs 85 lacs in this process.

Vijay Laxmi Shrimali of Sankalp Seva Sansthan told that we have trained 23 women to make soft toys. Gunwanti Joshi of Suvrcha charitable society informed that they taught 26 women to make carry bags and to stitch suits and do Paper Mache work.

Dr. Rachan Jain (Mayor Kota) and all the other Chairpersons and Councilors from different districts and states appreciated the exhibition.

Commissioner of Nagar Parishad (Udaipur), Staya Narayan Acharya was also present at the exhibition.
