Shakil Ahmed has been appointed as the Commanding Officer of the 1 Raj Naval Unit NCC, a position that brings him back to where his military journey began. This appointment is particularly meaningful for Ahmed, as he is returning to the same unit where he first developed his interest in the Navy.
Before this new role, Ahmed served as the Project Director (Marine Works) for Project Seabird in Karwar, Karnataka. This project, which he worked on from July 2020 to June 2024, is one of the Indian Navy's most ambitious project. It focuses on constructing the largest naval base in Asia, which is expected to significantly enhance India's maritime capabilities.
Ahmed's connection to the NCC unit dates back to his days as a cadet from 1994 to 1997 while he was studying at MB College of Science in Udaipur. During this period, he earned his C Certificate, marking a foundational step in his naval career.
