Art literally has no restrictions nor is an artist deprived of a piece of canvas. Artist follows only his imagination, and he can present his exclusive artwork even on a vintage motorcycle.

A similar example of an extra ordinary work of art is done by Udaipur’s Ahmed Khan Pathan, a marble artist who embedded 27 kilogram of sea shells on a Royal Enfield Motorcycle making it a exceptional piece of art.

The bike, a 350 CC Royal Enfield, 1966 model has now became world’s one of most exclusive antique piece. Thousands of sea shells painted in golden, white and black color makes it look adorned with jewels.

It took seven months of hard work for Savina resident Ahmed Khan and his associate Raju Bhai, a bullet mechanic who did the modification, re-assembling and re-painting the vintage motorcycle. The artwork is recently patented by Khan.

Every part of the bike, from petrol tank to chasis and even number plate is embedded with sea shells. Khan said, ”First the sea shells were painted in different colors and then fixed it accordingly on motorcycle parts followed by polishing to give a final smooth touch.”

Inspired by his artist uncle Muddassar Khan who himself designed several vehicles, Ahmed Khan is a nakkashi artist who works on marble stones. When asked why he chose only sea shells, Khan said that he just wanted to do something unique and thus opted for this idea.

The bike is named “Maheen” after Khan’s daughter. Khan thanks his friend Raju Bhai, who owns a garage at Mulla Talai and helped Khan regarding all technical aspects of modification.

“I already patented my motorcycle and have no intention of selling it” says Ahmed Khan. About sea shells he said, “The bike weighed nearly 377kg after adding 27kg of sea shells on it. These shells not only shine in day time but also look lustrous at night”.
