Udaipur Girl Apurvi Secures Silver at World Cup
Apurvi Chandela gave an impressive performance at the ISSF Rifle and Pistol World Cup being held at Munich, Germany.
The Jaipur based Udaipur girl secured a Silver Medal for the country, in the Women’s 10 Meter Rifle event. She scored 206.9 points, losing out to Iranian Gold Medalist Ahmadi Elaheh who tallied 207.5 points.
Apurvi began with all shots blazing, as she fired two shots of 10.8 to lead after Series 1 of first competition stage. A total of 30.6 in Series 2 got her down to second place. She did not fumble thereafter, maintaining the second spot all through the series. Her final shot of 10.2 was just 0.2 short of eventual winner Ahmadi.
Earlier this year, Apurvi, who already holds the Commonwealth Gold Medal, secured India a spot in the Rio Olympics after she got home the Gold Medal at the ISSF Rifle and Pistol World Cup held in Korea in April.
