AVIRACHIN (Modern) GARBA

UT had the privilege of speaking to Naynaxi Ben Vaidya, who was the main choreographer of todays Gujarat Day event in the Shilpgram Festival.

Naynaxi Ben hails from Gujarat and is originally from Udaipur.

Winner of the National level award Shreemad Rajchandra Award and the State level award Gaurav Puraskar from the Gujarat Rajya Sangeet Academy, Naynaxi Ben was born in Udaipur and did her schooling from Udaipur as well.

She had her first solo performance in the Lok Kala Mandal in her school days and went on to become the Principal of J.H. Ambani School in Surat.

Naynaxi Ben also holds the degree of Sitar Visharad and is the composer of the modern Garba (Avirachin Garba).  To add to her list of achievements, she, along with her group also performed in Canada last year.

She has also written a book on Garba, “NAVRANGTALI”, of which approximately 50,000 copies have been published till date.
