Udaipur presents World's Biggest and Heaviest Pagdi
Udaipur artist Daulat Sen has made the world’s biggest Pagdi named as Kamsool Bhopalshahi Pag, the biggest and heaviest Pagdi weighs 21 kg and is decorated beautifully with huge latkan, imli, pachedi, chandrama and turra kalangi.
Udaipur artist Daulat Sen has made the world’s biggest Pagdi named as Kamsool Bhopalshahi Pag, the biggest and heaviest Pagdi weighs 21 kg and is decorated beautifully with huge latkan, imli, pachedi, chandrama and turra kalangi.
Daulat Sen, by taking forward his father’s skills, has made several PAGDIS with the cloths of length ranging from 1.5 inch to 1111mtr.
Sen has so far excelled in making Fatehshahi, Bhopalshahi, Amarshahi, Shivaji, Pathani, Sardari, Phante and Royal Pagdis. He has also made the Royal Pagdi for Maharana Arvind Singh Mewar.
He is also skilled in making Safa. He can prepare Jodhpuri, Jaipuri, Marwadi, Mewari, Haroti and Gujarati safa in a very colorful way.
Daulat has been working to popularize his artwork for past 32 years. In the past, he made a pagdi with a cloth of length 611 mtr which was then displayed at Haldighati museum.
He said, “I will always try to make this art popular and put my efforts to take pagdi art forward”.
He has also sent an application to get his name registered in the Guinness Book of World Records for the biggest pagdi.
