25-year-old Thakur Anoop Singh won gold in the Fitness Physique category of the 7^th World Bodybuilding and Physique (WBPF) Championship in Bangkok, Thailand on 28^th Nov and bagged “Mr World Title”.

Earlier, Singh a pilot-turned-actor celebrated third position at 49^th Asian Bodybuilding and Physique 2015 held in Tashkent.

In an interview with News18, Anoop Singh who is also known for his role as prince and king Dhritarashtra in Star Plus’s Mahabharata said, I was dumbstruck for few seconds…I wanted to re-confirm whether my name was really announced as the winner? But, when it was announced that the Champion Trophy and the gold medal goes to contestant 369-Thakur Anoop Singh from India, I jumped in the air as if I was reaching out to hug the God himself! My parents were right in front of me.

When asked what pushed you to leave your career as a pilot and pursue acting/modeling/bodybuilding, Anoop Singh said, “I would like to correct that I am not a bodybuilder and neither did I win the competition in bodybuilding category. My category was that of a fitness/athletic physique where each contestant is supposed to perform a routine of 90 seconds in which he has to show his body, beauty, agility, symmetry, flexibility and strength element. I had to perform, that too twice-Pre-judging and finals! Having said that I am the only Indian who has achieved a gold medal in my category (fitness physique). So, people need to know the difference between the body building and fitness physique of which many are not aware of!”

In another interview with Catnews.com, Thakur Anoop Singh said that how he came into modeling leaving his career as an aircraft pilot. Anoop’s future in aviation industry appeared messy during 2008 global recession. Then 18-year-old Anoop tried his luck in modeling. He entered Fit Factor, a prestigious fitness model search competition, where he eventually finished as the runner-up.

 Edit: It was mentioned before in this article “Udaipur Born Anoop Singh” which was later found incorrect. Thakur Anoop Singh is not born in Udaipur but all his ancestors including his grandfather Thakur Jagat Pratap Singh was born in Udaipur. Anoop is very close to Udaipur and Udaipur is very close to Anoop.
