Sandeep Kamal got National Film Award for best special effects for hindi movie JAL. Originally from Udaipur, Sandeep Kamal is a Mumbai based Ad film maker who has worked on over more then 40 Feature films and little over 150 TV commercials as a Visual effects Artist and supervisor.

Sandeep Kamal is the creative spark behind Mumbai based Intermezzo Studios now known as Candlelight. Born and brought up in Udaipur, Sandeep Kamal did his schooling from Alok School and college form MLSU.

Without a formal education in fine arts, he started early as an artist in school, winning many inter-school drawing and painting competitions. Later he started working with an artist family doing portraits and copying old masterpieces in oil.

Under the guidance of known artists of Udaipur, Rekha Pancholi he had even entered in Rajasthan Lalitkala Academy’s painting completion held in Jaipur for Artists, while he was still in school.

Under renowned artist and cartoonist Shahid Parvez, he picked up few skills in caricature and cartooning.

He was guided by his school teacher Bijoy Choudhary, who introduced him to the world of computer art and animation. With the help of his guide, Sandeep taught himself the art of animation and visual effects.In 1996 he joined Goa based Italian company “Digital Opera” as a 3D artist.

After working for number of various design studios, Sandeep eventually started his own production house Intermezzo Studios Pvt. Ltd. Intermezzo Studios was a boutique startup that came into existence with the desire of creating unique and original content across various platforms like Games, TV and Cinema.

With a handpicked team of talented professionals from the industry, soon Intermezzo got recognition as a quality focused production house.

Their work in movie Kahaani is among the finest use of Visual effects in a film. Sandeep Kamal is now focusing mainly on his filmmaking passion and handling the Asia operation of internationally acclaimed award winning production house UNIT9 from London.
