On the issue of increasing License Fee for Hotel Business, for which Businessmen are showing resistance, Rajni Dangi, Chairperson Udaipur Municipal Council called up a meeting today in her office with officials’ representing Hotel Businessmen in Udaipur City.
As per the report, Hoteliers resisted the increment in License Fee of Hotels. They said it would only result in downfall of tourism in Udaipur as it would increase charges paid by customers (tourists) for availing the facilities.
They also made the point, “We are already paying taxes and fees such as Incremented Electricity Bills, Pollution Control Fees, Food Tax, Luxury Tax, Capital Investment Tax and others. So we can’t afford this further increment”.
Rajni Dangi then assured the businesspersons that these all points will be discussed in the board meeting while making the final decision on incrementing License Fee. The interest of Consumers and Residents is always on priority, so every factor will be studied before finalizing anything.
Though, She said, “After year 1971, the tax has not been increased since 1998, when it was increased minimally. During this period, everything else has risen in price”.
