BJP Workers Staged Dharna Against UPA

The three page memorandum was submitted by the BJP leaders Gulabchand Kataria, Satish Punia, Pramod Samar and Dinesh Bhatt as well as with other party workers to the President of India Hon. Partibha Singh Patil.

The district party workers warned in their letter that furious demonstrations will be staged against the Indian government if strong steps were not taken to stop corruption and inflation. They also demanded that the government makes attempts to bring back the black money deposited in foreign banks.

They blamed the current UPA government for several scams that have occurred when the alliance had been in power, especially the scams that have come to light in the year 2010.

The most prominent scams among those mentioned in the memorandum include the 2G spectrum scam (Rs.1.76 lakh crore), the Common Wealth Games scam (Rs. 70,000 crore), the Bofors scandal (Rs. 68 crore), the Adarsh Samiti scandal (Rs. 1800 crore), Satyam Computers (Rs. 22000 crore), L.I.C (Rs. 400 crore), Prasar Bhart (Rs. 150 crore), contaminated cereals (Rs. 58000 crore), rice export (Rs. 2500 crore), PDS scam (Rs.1000 crore) and Kochhi franchise with more than Rs. 70 crore .

The BJP strongly believes that these scams are proof of poor and failed administration and that these have baffled the common citizens who are struggling every day with price rise for every small-big product. The workers also condemn police action at Ram Leela ground on 4th june 2011 against Baba Ramdev and his supporters. The BJP also added that the present condition is not less than an emergency situation in the country.
