Efforts are being made to invite Modi to wave the flag to set off the youth team on their mission.

Determined to pressurize the Railway Board and the union government to sanction the requisite budget for the much dreamt gauge conversion project, hundreds of workers from the BJP Yuva Morcha will march their way covering a distance of 177 kilometers from Udaipur to Himmatnagar.

‘Chalega Yuva-Layega Broad-gauge’ is the name given to the program and the youth leaders are planning it in such a way as to enjoin the common people in large numbers in the initiative so that it does not limit itself to be a party event.

Jinendra Shastri, the district president of the BJP yuva morcha revealed the details of the event which has been scheduled on 26th January from the city railway station. ‘ The Gauge conversion issue is not to be taken as the publicity stunt keeping in view the Lok Sabha elections ahead.

“We had held post card abhiyaan, Rail Roko Andolan and many other demonstrations in support of the issue years back. Since the authorities are not releasing budget for the project on priority basis, the snail pace of work will delay the ambitious project for further 5 years if the common people do not resort to protest”, said Shastri, who is also one of the member of the Railway advisory committee.

“We have been assured participation and support from the hotel and guide associations, academic institutions, trade unions and even various business houses and associations. The march will start from the city railway station on the Republic day and we hope to cover a distance of 25 to 30 kilometers on daily basis”, the president added.

An ambulance armed with basic life saving instruments and doctors team will accompany the footsloggers. The team expects to reach Himmatnagar on the 6th day.

During their journey the participants will spread awareness about their motive aiming to get more support from the common public. A dress code of Kesariya T-Shirt and banners with slogans for the cause have too been decided.

A participation of 500 members to join the march up to Himmatnagar is being claimed, however to avoid casualties women and children would not be allowed to join the complete route of walk.
