Chandra Singh Kothari is elected as the new mayor of Udaipur Municipal Corporation today in a joint meeting held by BJP’s elected corporators from 49 out of 55 wards.

Chandra Singh Kothari is elected as the new mayor of Udaipur Municipal Corporation today in a joint meeting held by BJP’s elected corporators from 49 out of 55 wards.

The official announcement of Kothari’s name was declared in the presence of ADM City Choghalal Devasi.

Kothari has taken the seat of former Mayor Rajni Dangi. Rajni Dangi was the first mayor of the city since it turned into Municipal Corporation from Council.

Chandra Singh Kothari won the post of Corporator from ward no.4 and was highly potential candidate for the post of Mayor. The other probable candidates were Lokesh Dwivedi and Paras Singhvi.

According to sources, a large number of people were gathered outside Udaipur Municipal Corporation. After the oath ceremony Kothari was greeted and welcomed by his supporters and BJP activists.

Chandra Singh Kothari had started his political career in his youth by joining ABVP; he later worked closely with local BJP leaders including Gulab Chand Kataria.

In an interview with a news reporter, Kothari has emphasized on cleaning of Ayad River, making the city Wifi, controlling pollution and reforming public transport. He also put forward his thought to give heritage look to the old city and erasing parking problems by constructing multi storey parking at Surajpol and Hathipol.

After Mayor, now Municipal Corporation will choose deputy mayor. As per sources, Lokesh Dwivedi and Hansa Mali are believed to be the top contenders for the post.
