Congress crunch in internal dispute Today on the death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, Udaipur Congress has seen a round of argument, agitation and quarrel between its members who are gripped into faction based politics. Congress leaders Virendra Vaishnav and president of District Congress Neelima Sukhadia are believed to be on fairly sour terms and they have their own followers in the District Congress Committee (DCC). A group of people led by Sharafat Khan, one of the close associates of Virendra Vaishnav, strongly opposed a meeting called by Neelima Sukhadia, without informing and inviting members close to Virendra Vaishnav, or the Vaishnav group. However, Sukhadia refuted the allegation and said that it was simply lack of communication between both the groups and claimed that she had invited Vaishnav through another party worker. A party worker, on condition of anonymity said that Sukhadia’s excuse is useless and everything that happened today was inspired by internal party faction issues in the local Congress office. The annoyed group led by Sharafat Khan stepped down from the DCC office saying that they came here to attend a commemoration ceremony of Mahatma Gandhi and had no knowledge of any meeting going on here.
