A week after the BJP released its manifesto in Rajasthan to woo voters for the upcoming assembly elections in the state, the Congress party released its election manifesto on Tuesday, 21 November. The main highlights of the manifesto focuses on jobs, caste and financial support.

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge released the manifesto from the Congress Warroom. Key Points of the Congress Manifesto are:

  1. 4 lakh youth to be given government jobs. 10 lakh youth will be given employment.
  2. Amount of Chiranjeevi Health Insurance will be increased from Rs 25 lakh to Rs 50 lakh.
  3. Caste Census will be conducted in Rajasthan.
  4. Education up to 12th will be made free in private educational institutions as per RTE.
  5. Government employees will be given fourth pay scale series with 9,18,27 and Officers will be given Apex scale.
  6. Government Job Cadre will be made at the Panchayat level.
  7. Right to Housing Law: Housing for everyone.
  8. Merchant Credit Card Scheme: Interest free loan up to Rs 5 lakh to small traders and shopkeepers.
  9. MNREGA and Indira Gandhi Urban employment will be increased fromw 125 to 150 days.
  10. MSP law for farmers will be implemented as per the recommendations of Swaminathan Committee.
  11. Security guards will be deployed in every village and urban ward.
  12. Cost of the subsidised Gas Cylinder scheme will be reduced from Rs. 500 to Rs 400.
  13. The schemes already running will be further strengthened.
  14. Villages and hamlets with population up to 100 will be connected by road.

While addressing the media, Kharge said that even in the last assembly elections, the public manifesto issued by the Congress was approved by the Cabinet and given the status of a policy-making letter as soon as it came to power. The government claims that it has fulfilled more than 90 percent of the promises made in that manifesto.

Even before announcing the manifesto, Congress has already issued 7 guarantees for the Rajasthan Assembly elections. This includes financial assistance of Rs 10,000 annually to women, Gas Cylinder to all for Rs 500, free Tab or Laptop to the youth taking admissions in government colleges, disaster relief insurance of Rs 25 lakh and purchase of cow dung from farmers. Laws for old pension scheme for employees and announcement of promotion of English medium schools in government schools are included.
