The city of lakes witnessed a political hullabaloo today following the nomination process done by four contestants from different political parties. The Code of Conduct was also reportedly breached by various party workers.

Nomination process for the upcoming Lok Sabha Election 2014 was started today after contestant from CPI, Meghraj Tawad filed his nomination before the district collector Ashutosh Pednekar, who is currently the top official appointed in Udaipur by Election Commission of India.

Another contestant Gautamlal Meena, from Bhartiya Communist Party (Leninist) also filed the nomination.

At 12:30pm, BJP’s contestant Arjun Meena came with his dozens supporters, cheering and chanting slogans. According to the code of conduct, a contestant cannot accompany more than 5 supporters under the 100mts line but more than 50 people were accompanying Meena till the election officer’s chamber.

When asked, Meena denied saying he don’t know if anyone of their party breached election code of conduct.

After BJP, their close opponent Congress party also arrived at collectorate. Raghuveer Singh Meena filed the nomination. Like BJP, Congress supporters also came in large numbers crossing the distance limit set by election commission.

Four Lok Sabha election contestants file nominationBoth BJP and Congress held meeting at Bank Tiraha and Town Hall respectively before filing nominations. Senior leaders from both parties were present in the meeting, along with large number of supporters.

BJP holds 6 out of 8 assembly seats from Udaipur while Congress has 1 and one other contestant from Bhindar. According to sources, BJP seems to be more powerful than their opponents.

The AAP party candidate Dr. Velaram Meena will probably file the nomination on 26th March.

Because of the nomination process, the roads around collectorate were blocked. This caused heavy traffic jam from 10 in the morning till 3pm.
