June 08, 2026: Leaders of the INDIA bloc held an important meeting at the Constitution Club in New Delhi on Monday to discuss a common strategy against the ruling NDA government and address several key national issues. The meeting brought together representatives from 25 opposition parties, including Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, and Mallikarjun Kharge, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee, Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, National Conference leader Omar Abdullah, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti, and several Left leaders.

Addressing the media after the meeting, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said all participating parties had reached a consensus on five major issues. He stated that the opposition alliance would soon write to the Chief Justice of India regarding concerns over the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, alleged voter list manipulation, and questions surrounding the fairness and transparency of elections.

Opposition Raises Concerns Over Elections, Education and Economy

Kharge said the INDIA bloc unanimously demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. According to the opposition, controversies and irregularities related to examinations such as NEET and CBSE have adversely affected millions of students across the country.

The alliance also urged the Centre to convene an all-party meeting to discuss the country's economic situation. Opposition leaders expressed concerns over rising unemployment, inflation, farmers' issues, and challenges faced by weaker sections of society.

Speaking after the meeting, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav said there was broad agreement among alliance partners on the major issues discussed. He added that the opposition would continue to raise these matters both inside and outside Parliament in the coming months.

INDIA Bloc Plans Regular Meetings Ahead of Monsoon Session

To strengthen coordination among its members, the INDIA bloc decided to hold meetings every two months. Kharge announced that the next meeting of the alliance would take place in Hyderabad in August, with the exact date to be finalised later.

The alliance also resolved to maintain close coordination during the upcoming Monsoon Session of Parliament. Daily strategy meetings will be held every morning at the office of the Leader of Opposition in the Rajya Sabha to ensure a united approach on key issues.

Kharge further revealed that Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray and Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren participated in the meeting virtually and expressed their support for the alliance's decisions.

The gathering marked one of the most significant meetings of opposition leaders since the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. With several state elections approaching and preparations gradually beginning for the 2029 Lok Sabha elections, the INDIA bloc appears keen to strengthen unity and present a coordinated challenge to the BJP-led NDA in the months ahead.
