India needs Election Reform: Mahesh Chandra Sharma“Many people are not availing their rights of voting and that is the only reason, why the country is not getting the right representative”, said Dr. Mahesh Chandra Sharma, former Rajya Sabha MP and BJP President of the State, while addressing a press conference today afternoon at Lakecity Press Club.

Sharma urges to change the election system and expressed his views on present scenario of the election system in the country.

Sharma said, “Election system should be changed in order to get an inclusive democratic government. A representative should come out of the majority.”

“There should be two phases of voting system in India and one should win in both the rounds in order to claim majority; voting should be constrained to every citizen. The leaders today, confirm their seats only by focusing on 20% votes in order to get majority”, says Sharma.

He also says that there should be a law to compel people to vote as it decreases the cost of networking, build by the people to attract the voters and a citizen can give vote to such a person he feels competent without any external force.

While describing the challenges, Mahesh Chandra Sharma said that in present set-up, a leader from the particular caste brings the vote in the name of that caste. In the present day there is lawlessness.

According to the books, laws are made for people’s sake, but in reality, this does not happen, people stand-out with their representatives, when the laws are formed. He expressed his feelings to have a regulated system in government.

Also commenting on the recent Delhi incident and corruption, he praised the youth of the country for their contribution and awakening.
