Javed Akhtar Reacts Strongly to Pakistan Army Chief’s Remarks

Udaipur, May 15, 2025: A few days ago, popular and outspoken lyricist Javed Akhtar spoke about the tension on the India-Pakistan border. Of late, Akhtar strongly criticised the Pakistani Army Chief. He clearly said that the Army Chief is a very unruly person who does not respect the people of his own country.

In a recent interview, well-known lyricist Javed Akhtar spoke in detail about the statement made by the Pakistani Army Chief. He said, “I saw his statement on social media and was completely shocked. Not all people in a country can be bad. If the government is bad, its impact falls on everyone. Our problem should only be with the government, the army, and extremists — not with the innocent citizens.

Calls Army Chief ‘Insensitive’ and ‘Lacking Common Sense’

Javed further said, “The Pakistani Army Chief is an insensitive person. If he believes Indians are bad, why is he only targeting Hindus? There are also Hindus in Pakistan. By saying this, he is insulting his own country’s people.” He added that although the man holds a high position, “he has no common sense.”

Questions on Historical Knowledge and Identity

Javed Akhtar continued, “One of their missiles is named Abdali. But Abdali attacked Muslims! He’s your hero? What about the people born on your own land? You are praising an invader? Do you even understand your history? Their real problem is that their history and geography don’t match. The communities they claim as their own want no connection with them. Even several Arab countries have banned Pakistanis from getting visas. It’s like a boy from the streets of Delhi saying he knows Shah Rukh Khan. My friend, Shah Rukh Khan doesn’t know you! That’s their reality.”

Pakistan Didn’t Claim Its Own Soldiers, Says Akhtar

Javed also shared an incident to show how the Pakistani army doesn’t respect its own soldiers. He said, “When an Indian soldier dies, we salute him. But when Pakistani soldiers died in Kargil, they didn’t even take their bodies. It was the Indian army that buried them with respect. One of our senior officers even took photos of the bodies, made an album, and sent it to Pakistan. They refused to accept it. Later, they accepted it — but unofficially.”
