Bugle for the biggest democratic elections in the world was sounded today with the announcement of polling dates for the 2014 general elections.

Chief election commissioner VS Sampath announced the polls in 9 phases from 7th April, 2014 to 12th May, 2014. Counting of votes for in all the 543 constituencies will happen on 16th May 2014.

As per election schedule released by Election Commission, out of 25 constituencies of Rajasthan, 20 will go for polling on 17th April. These 20 constituencies include Udaipur, Banswara, Rajsamand, Bhilwara, Jodpur, Pali, Ajmer,Ganganagar, Bikaner, Jaipur, Jaipur Rural, Nagaur, Jalore, Barmer  amongst others. 5 constituencies including Alwar, Bharatpur, Karauli-Dholpur, Dausa and Tonk-Sawai Madhopur will have polling on 24th April.

As per undertones in the political circle, Congress would be most probably fielding Raghuveer Singh Meena from the Udaipur constituency. No strong undertones regarding candidates from other parties have emerged yet for the Udaipur constituency.

It may be noted that with announcement of the election dates, the model code of conduct has come into immediate effect.  Model code of conduct prevents Government from taking any decision that can be seen as influencing voters.
