MLSU Students Union Elections – NSUI Candidate Nomination Papers Rejected
MLSU Student Union Election NSUI Candidate Rejected by Lyngdoh Committee
Lyngdoh Committee has rejected the application filed by Ronak Purohit under the NSUI banner, for contesting to the Post of President of University Student Union, at the upcoming MLSU Students’ Union Elections.
Following the news, supporters of Ronak and members of NSUI agitated outside the College of Commerce and Management Studies.
A competing candidate had raised an objection in the form of an appeal to the Lyngdoh Committee citing that Ronak is having a Criminal case filed in his name and he is still under trial. Considering his appeal, the guidelines were enforced following which the nomination of Ronak was cancelled.
A large Police force including senior officers of the force rushed to the site immediately to control the situation. A mild use of force was resorted to by the Police as the crowd was in a very agitated state.
Earlier during the day, two candidates, Ronak Purohit from NSUI and Sonu Ahari from ABVP had filed their nomination papers for the post of University Students’ Union President at 12:15hrs today. The rejection of the NSUI candidature took place a few hours later.
