Nitin Nabin, 45, is BJP's youngest national president; elected unopposed he was sworn in at a ceremony on Tuesday attended by PM Modi and senior BJP leaders
Jan 20, 2026 – Nitin Nabin, BJP leader from Bihar, has been appointed the party’s new national president and was sworn in to his new position on Tuesday (January 20) in New Delhi. The 45 year old is the youngest national president of the party and succeeds Union Minister JP Nadda.
Nabin was the sole candidate for the position of the 12th national party chief and was elected unopposed on Monday (January 19). His name was proposed by 37 people including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Ministers Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, Dharmendra Pradhan, Bhupendra Yadav, Kiren Rijiju, Hardeep Puri and outgoing president JP Nadda.
The new president is a five-term MLA from Bankipur in Patna and is currently the PWD Minister in the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government.
His swearing-in ceremony was attended by PM Modi along with many senior BJP leaders including Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gadkari, BJP Chief Ministers, national office bearers and State unit presidents.
