PM should resign on Moral Grounds over Coal Scam: Hansraj Aheer

Hansraj Gangaram Aheer, member of the 14th Lok Sabha and well known for “Exposing Coal Block Allocation Scam” was on an unofficial visit to Udaipur today.

Hansraj is a three time BJP (MP) from Channderpur district of (Maharashtra) and a member of the Steel and Coal Committee (Government of India). He has been invited to speak on the Coal Scam at a BJP Public Meeting in Bhilwara tomorrow. He was in Udaipur today on his way to Bhilwara, for where he left in the evening.

Hansraj said that the Coal allocation Scam is a political scandal concerning the Congress led UPA Government for the allocation of the Nation’s coal deposits or reserves of almost 21.69 Billion metric Tons to Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs) and Private companies.

In a draft report issued in March 2012, the (CAG) Comptroller and Auditor General of India office accused the Government of India for allocating coal blocks in an inefficient manner during the period 2004-2009.

Hansraj, along with Prakash Javdekar of BJP lodged a complaint to the CVC (Central Vigilance Commission), resulting in a CBI probe into whether the allocation of the coal blocks was in fact influenced by corruption.

He alleged that the Congress Led UPA government made an irreparable loss to the Nation in failing to give Coal blocks through the bidding system and rather, handing over Coal blocks to favored business houses, viz. Birlas, Tata’s, and firms of Naveen Jindal and Abhijeet Group, patroned by Manoj Jaiswal, a relative of Shriprakash Jaiswal, Central Coal Minister. The worth of Coal blocks given in such a manner was to the tune of Rs. 50 Lac Crores. He also said that this figure might go higher.

The BJP MP also questioned the Central Government through the media that though the Bill of Auction for the Coal Reserve Allocation has been drafted, then why they have given the coal blocks without any bidding, and now when Government is on the back-foot after the C.B.I. inquiry then why they are not cancelling the Coal Blocks Allocation.

Hansraj further alleged that the Central Coal Minister might have taken some benefits out of it and if he cancels the allocation then he and the high ranked officials had a risk of giving back to the companies whatever they have taken, hence they are not doing the same in order to protect themselves.

Giving the example of Shivraj Singh Chouhan Ministry’s, he said that profitable coal allocation through the bidding process in which 296 million tone reserve coal blocks were auctioned through bidding process, in which the Ministry received Rs. 885 Crores a year as Allocation Fee, and also received 51% profit out of the production. Further, a royalty of Rs. 114 per ton was also received on the Coal Blocks allocated through the bidding process.

Hansraj said that if the Central Government would have taken steps like this then they might have saved billions of rupees for the Nation.

He alleged that this loss is a burden upon the common man as well as poor people of this country as the policies of the Congress government is to make the rich more richer and poor more poorer.

Hansraj asked that the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh might be an honest Individual but the Scam has been done in his reign, thus he should resign on moral grounds taking this as his own responsibility.
