Mahendrajeet Singh Malviya, who founded his political career on the Congress platform has chosen to join hands with the BJP. Malviya is a four time MLA and has also been a Minister in the Ashok Gehlot led Congress Government in Rajasthan. Stating that the BJP policies and the leadership of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be fruitful for the development of the Vagad (Tribal) Belt in South Rajasthan, Malviya said that the main reason for his chosing to opt out of his founding party Congress, was because the Congress leaders chose not to attend the Ram Mandir Pran Prathishtha ceremony at Ayodhya on 22 January. Malviya reached the BJP office in Jaipur on 19 February, where he was welcomed by the State President CP Joshi and Rajasthan In-Charge Arun Singh. Malviya had earlier met Home Mininster Amit Shah and BJP National President JP Nadda on 18 February, which was a confirmation of his switching to the BJP.
